Istanbul

Istanbul, or as it is called Constantinople, is considered the largest tourism city in Turkey and the second largest city in the world in terms of population, with about 15.52 million inhabitants. Istanbul was the capital of many states and empires, as it was the capital of the Roman Empire, followed by Byzantium, as it was its capital, then Latin, and finally the capital of the Ottoman Empire. Places of tourism in historical Istanbul were added to the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites in 1985 AD, and Istanbul was chosen as the joint capital of European culture in 2010.
